Tipping Point

Social media allows people to connect in ways they may have otherwise not done so. One example of this is in Mapleton, a small Utah town. Two friends got together and wanted to make a difference in the community. From this desire to make a difference sprang the Tipping Point Community Outreach. It is so simple that anyone can do it.

A Facebook page is created, friends and neighbors invited and voila!

The focus of The Tipping Point Community facebook page to help supply needs to the local Food and Care Coalition. Each week the coalition puts their immediate needs on their website. This list is put onto the facebook page and everyone who wants to participate is welcome to purchase a needed item and to drop it off into a plastic bin set out on one of the members front porches. Every other week the donations are dropped off at the Food and Care coalition. Many people doing a small kindness results in a huge help to those in need.

The cost is spread among many making it easy for anyone at every income level to participate and make a difference in their community. The only set up cost? A bin or container for the front porch.

Flowers for Robin

Robin Sutherland was in a big hurry and the Massachusetts policeman noticed.

As it turns out, Robin was rushing to see her 90 year old dying mother who was about to enter hospice care. Those entering hospice usually have very little time left to live.

When Officer Catatao found out the reason behind Robin speeding she let her off with a warning. The amazing part? Later that day Robin received a bouquet of flowers from Officer Catatao with a kind card and message of comfort. Officer Ashley Catatao just wanted to do something kind and put a smile on Robin's face during her difficult time.

Officer Catatao went above and beyond to bring some good and happiness into the world. Thank you Ashley for being an inspiration to others.

#ForceForDaniel

Daniel Fleetwood is a 32-year old Star Wars fan who has spindle cell carcinoma or in other words terminal cancer.  He wanted to see The Force Awakens before it comes out in December because he may not be here when it is released. Many of the movie's actors and others supported his cause on social media. The result? J.J. Abrams came through and Daniel was allowed to see The Force Awakens a month before its official release. 

J.J. Abrams brought a smile to my face knowing this man's wish was granted. There are so many good people in the world making a difference. Today I thank J.J. Abrams for being one of those good people.
